Dee’s strong scientific background, combined with a love of food and a passion for making a difference to people’s health, made studying Nutritional Therapy an obvious choice. After studying Pharmacology at University, Dee fell into a career in Clinical Drug Research & Development in the pharmaceutical industry, and after 10 years life slowed down just long enough for Dee to realise were her true passions lie.
Studying Nutritional Therapy and now Functional Medicine, has opened up a whole new world. After a 10 year career in Clinical Drug Development, with pharmaceutical companies such as AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson and GlaxoSmithKline, whilst on maternity leave, Dee realised she wanted to help people in a different way.
Coming from a strong science background, it was important to Dee to find the right course that was evidence based, scientifically grounded, and that can help deliver results in the real world.
With the highly respected College of Naturopathic Medicine, that’s exactly what she got, and it did not disappoint.
Committed to further education and continuously striving to be a better practitioner, Dee embarked on her Functional Medicine journey in 2013, through further training with the Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM) in the USA – the largest Functional Medicine training provider for practitioners. Dee has completed the Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice (AFMCP) course with the IFM, and is part way through completing the Advanced Practice Modules as part of the IFM accreditation course.
Optimised Personal Wellness was founded to deliver real, sustainable health results through the power of Nutritional Therapy and root cause based medicine.
To meet the increasing needs for Functional Medicine, Dee has been fortunate enough to grow the Optimised Personal Wellness clinic team to include exceptional practitioners who share the same drive and enthusiasm to help others and who work, behind the scenes, collaboratively on cases where relevant, with regular round table case review meetings, for better clinical outcomes for our clients.
Dee and the team, take huge pleasure in seeing clients on a one-to-one basis, helping them to improve their chronic symptoms and overall well-being, leading happier and healthier lives – all achieved through an approach that is completely natural and evidence-based.
Dee also works as a Clinical Supervisor and lecturer for the College of Naturopathic Medicine, supporting students through their clinical training and is studying towards certification with the renowned Institute of Functional Medicine.
